Sampling Methods

Butterfly specimens were sorted and identified to species level. Then they were arranged geographically and their data on the labels were entered into Excel. Selected specimens were photographed showing upperside and underside with all available labels shown.

Study Extent Indonesian butterfly specimens at MZB
Quality Control Curatorial works are conducted during the process. Data checking and mapping were performed according to the standard Darwin Core.

Method step description:

  1. Butterfly specimens were sorted and identified to species level. Then they were arranged geographically according to subspecies if exist. The data on the labels were entered into Excel. Specimens, male and female if available, are selected to represent the subspecies, and they were photographed showing upperside and underside with all available labels shown. The specimens were then arranged into new drawers, complete with QR code label.
